Reading the Financial Data

Weekly Envelopes - Shows each bowlers payments and balance due for each week.

Income Statement - Shows income and expenses as a running log for the year assuming we started with an initial balance of zero. Each week all income from the bowlers and expenses are recorded.

Balance Sheet - Shows the expected Accounts Receivable (money coming in), the Accounts Payable (money going out) for the entire year, and the net of those two amounts.

Bank Statements - shows the activity and balance in the leagues bank account as of the latest monthly statement.

The Income Statement balance should be very close to the Latest Bank Statement. The only difference would be the initial account balance at the begining of the year and a check that may not have cleared yet.

Excess payout - Since we can not estimate the total expenses (racetrack, new software, etc.) for the year, there will be excess money leftover. Each year the excess money is divided by the number of bowlers is paid to each bowler. If at the end of that final week, if a bowler has balance due or owed, that amount is added or subtracted from the excess payment. Some bowlers are owed $10 because they paid in full but had a sub pay $10 on the final week.

Overall financing of the league explained

For the 2024-2025 Super Tuesday Mixed, each team 1- 8 has 4 bowlers 1-4. Each week the total money collected is totaled up and deposited in the league bank account at OceanFirst Bank, 442 NJ-35, Red Bank, NJ.

The week by week data is recorded in Excel and the pdf's are availabe here. The Weekly Payments show players payments and balances for all weeks. The Bank Activity show the weekly deposits, expenses and extimated bank balance.

For the 2024-2025 season, the linage is $15.50/week per bowler. That is, Strathmore charges us $15.50/bowler/night. For the first four weeks we had 31 bowlers so we were charged for 31 bowlers for the entire season even thought we added a 32nd bowler in week 5. So we paid 31* $15.50 = $480.50 each week.

We expect to

Collect ($25) * (32 bowlers) * (32 weeks) - $100 = $25,500 and

Pay ($15.50) * (31 bowlers) * (32 weeks) = $15,376

So we expect to have $25,500 - $15,376 = 10,124 left for all other expenses and prize money.
